This week in school...
- Griffin shared about his weekend with Gerald. David is taking home Piggie today. Have fun David!
- we have a 3 toed box turtle named Eloise from the science center. She will stay in our classroom for 2 weeks. She is adorable and likes to walk thru her food and make a mess for Mrs. Schwarm to clean up every morning.
- we had an ALICE drill. Ask your child how to stay safe during this type of a drill.
- We have finished our first unit of study for writing workshop. We picked one of our stories to "fancy up" and publish. We are sharing those stories this afternoon with our 5th grade buddies.
- we had PJ and stuffed animal Day!
- we hosted a movie day in our classroom for the other two first grade classes. We watched "Room on the Broom"
- we had a fall celebration! Thank you to our room parents Mrs. Traeger & Mrs. Sklarwitz for organizing the party and planning the party. Thank you to Mrs. Butaney, Mrs. Wong, Mr. Laidlaw, Mr. Galvin, & Mrs. Traeger for helping to run the stations. We had a great time! Ask your child what their favorite activity was!

- We learned that word detectives use snap words to read. Snap words are words you know in an instant (or snap).
- Word detectives read the words they know and think "what would make sense here?"
- Word detectives ask, "does this remind me of another word I know?"
- we learned that the digraph wh can only be found at the beginning of a word and the the digraph ck can only be found at the end of a word (or syllable)
