Literacy: Your child is expected to read for at least 20 minutes every night. Your child may read independently, read with another family member, or be read to.
Math: The math worksheets that are sent home complement that day's math lesson. These are activities that your child should be able to complete independently, although they may require assistance with reading the directions. These worksheets are not required homework and they do not need to be returned to me. If they are sent back, I will correct and return them that day.
Fundations: At the beginning of each new unit, a packet will be sent home outlining the skills that will be directly taught during the upcoming weeks. This will also contain current trick words. Trick words are words that need to be memorized because they cannot be sounded out. Click here for a current list of trick words.
Ideas for memorizing trick words.
- play memory
- tape the words around the house and search for them
- time your child and see if he/she can beat his/her own time
- add the words to a board game
