This week in school...
- we celebrated Johnny's birthday! He is taking home Pigeon today. Have fun Johnny!
- we learned about vowel consonant e syllables. The e at the end of a syllable makes the vowel long. (ex. pole)
- CAP came and taught us how to be SAFE, STRONG, and FREE!
- we had an Earth Day assembly. During the assembly we saw a picture of sea turtles eating a plastic bag which they thought was a jelly fish and we saw a picture of a sea turtle with a missing fin.
- there were also student performers at the assembly.
- we read a book about about Earth Day
- we collected money to help save Sea Turtles. 3rd grade raised the most money.
- we read a Scholastic News which talked about Earth Day.
- we made a promise to the Earth to help keep it safe. Ask your child what their promise was.
- we brainstormed different ways to help take care of the Earth.
- we are continuing to learn about life cycles. We currently have tadpoles, caterpillars, and a praying mantis egg sac in the classroom.
- we shared vacation journals from April break.
- we had some special guests come in to teach a math lesson on geometry.
- we got a new carpet!
- we started a new unit of study. We are now writing realistic fiction.
- when you are writing realistic fiction it has to be something that could happen in real life.
- When you write realistic fiction, you have to come up with a character and give that character a name, figure out a
