This week In school....
- Ari shared about his weekend with Gerald. Bremmer is taking Pigeon home today. Have fun, Bremmer!
- we celebrated Ari's birthday
- We learned how to say hello In Italian (Buongiorno)
- we learned about vowel teams! (ea, ee, ou, oo, oa, and ai). Knowing the sounds these vowel teams make can help us to solve tricky words.
- we learned about the glued sound all.
- we learned about bonus letters in Fundations! If a syllable has a short vowel and ends with f, l, or s (and sometimes z), it gets a bonus letter. (There are some exceptions of course! Ask your child about a rule breaker!)
- we started our "how to" unit for writing workshop. How to essays teach other people how to do something. We brainstormed different things that we are experts at that we could write about. Ask your child what they plan to write about!
- we learned a new song to help us spell the word they!
- we practiced telling time to the hour.
- we finished unit 2 in math and had an end of the unit assessment today. We will start unit 3 on Monday.
- we had 3 different guest teachers this week! They were all impressed with how wonderful our class is!
- we started our new STEAM class with Mr. Vallatini.
- we did not have school on Monday for Veteran's Day.
- we had an all school assembly about kindness. It was also a school spirit day!
- we made a garden in a glove. Hopefully we get to see some of the seeds start to germinate next week!
- 11/19-Sandwich Tuesday (First grade collects toothbrushes and toothpaste.
- 11/27-11/29 No School for Thanksgiving Recess.
