This week we continued to celebrate each student and all the different ways they are an important part of our classroom community! We celebrated Isabelle, Sean, Diana, and Ava!
Earlier this week, I sent out Information about our field trip coming up on June 13th. We will be leaving promptly at 9:15 am (Chaperones, please check in to the office at 9:00 am.) and will be back at school by 1:00 pm. Students will not be able to order lunch that day. You will need to send them to school with a snack to eat prior to us leaving in the morning, as well as a lunch to bring on the field trip. Please be sure that your child’s lunch is nut free and is clearly labeled with their name. A small water bottle would also be appreciated. There are refill stations at the museum, and your child will need to carry the bottle with them, so the smaller the better.
Half of the museum is outside. Teachers are not allowed to apply sunscreen or bug spray. These must be applied at home before school.
We are so excited to end our year with this amazing field trip. Thank you for helping us make it successful

- Today we finished reading the Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo! We celebrated by watching the movie this afternoon. It was a perfect way to relax after a busy week and a hot day!
- This week students continued to edit and revise their writing. Next week we will be picking our favorite writing piece to publish and sharing them with the other second grade classes!
- We have completed all 17 units of Fundations! I'll be putting together a summer resource to send home the last week of school so that you can continue to support your child's phonics skills at home.
- This week we worked on three digit addition problems and identifying when ones and tens would have to be combined to compose a new ten or hundred. Ask your child if a new ten or hundred needs to be composed in order to solve the following problems.
- 236 + 72
- 236 + 27
- 236 + 77
- 236 + 72

- Ask your child to show you 4 rows of 5 and the complementing repeating addition problems and multiplication problems.
- We learned about how animals get their basic needs (shelter, water, food) met from their habitats. Ask your child about some of the different habitats and animals we learned about this week!
