- When you are reading along and you bump into a word that you can say, but you don’t know what it means, your book is teaching you new vocabulary! There are two strategies we can use to help figure out the meaning of tricky words.
- Picturing the story in your mind and thinking of a word that makes sense
- Covering up the tricky word and thinking of another word or words that could replace it.

- Next week we are starting a new reading unit focusing on Nonfiction.
- We have completed our unit on personal narratives! This week, we picked out the story we wrote that we are the most proud of and we are currently working hard to edit and revise. Each time we reread our story, we are focusing on something different to edit. The first reread might be punctuation, the second might be craft moves, the third might be spelling, and so on. The students are so proud of their stories and they have grown a ton over the past few months!
