- Our new unit of study is Stepping into the World of the Story. In this unit we will explore all the different types of genre that fall under fiction. This week we explore mystery, realistic fiction, and fantasy. Ask your child which genre is their favorite!
- Andrew Green, from Potato Hill Poetry worked with our class on Tuesday. He taught us how to use our five senses to write small moment poems. Thank you to the PTC for bringing this amazing poet to grade two!
- Before starting a new poem, poets often review their poem ideas, asking themselves, ‘Does this idea contain both strong feelings and concrete details?’ and then they start new poems based on ideas that contain both of these. Ask your child about the poems they have been writing!
- Students Read, wrote, and represented three-digit numbers using base-ten numerals and expanded form.
- Students used place value understanding to compose and decompose three-digit numbers.
- Ask your child about the ST Math March Mathness! Last week we went against Ms. Wolfe’s class and won. This week we challenged Mrs. Maxwell’s class. We’ll find out Monday which class completed more puzzles!
- This week we started and completed unit 12! We practiced two more double vowel sounds (oy and oi). We had our end of the unit assessment today. Look for this in your child’s folder on Monday.
