This week In second grade...
Reading:
- We continued to read and identify elements in fairy tales.
- Ask your child about what makes a fairy tale fractured! .
- Add some new some characters
- Change the personality of a main character
- The ending might be different

Writing:
- We added realistic fiction and sequels to our writing genres.
- We worked on using precise language and specific nouns.
- Today we focused on editing our work to make it easier for others to read.
Fundations:
- We started our last unit of Fundations! This week we learned a 6th syllable type called consonant le. This can be found in words like table, gobble, snuggle.
Math:
- We finished our unit on geometry, fractions, time, and money.
- We solved word problems involving money.
SEL (Social and Emotional Learning):
- This week we talked about being grateful for all of the amazing things we have in our lives. Each student spun a wheel and got to share either a person, place, thing, food, or something else that they are grateful for.
Science
- The class had a lot of fun feeding Buddy the Frog this week!
- We had to figure out what type of frog Buddy is. We compared our frog to other types of frogs. We looked at size, color, webbed feet, texture of skin and the sound of they make. We were able to figure out that Buddy is an African Claw Frog!
Social Studies
- This week we learned about the fourth and fifth largest continents, South America and Antarctica. Ask your child to share what they learned!
