This week in school...
- Daniel shared about his weekend with Pigeon. Vasilios took him home on Friday. We can't wait to hear about their weekend adventures!
- we did not have media or Spanish. Both teachers were out sick.
- we made pinch pots in art
- we had a math assessment. We will start a new unit on Monday.
- we had a snow day Monday!
- we started our new unit in writing workshop (opinion writing) We learned how to judge our collections fairly and we are working on convincing readers about which item in our collections is the best by adding reasons and details.
- we read Dr. Seuss books.
- we are continuing to work on being independent writers.
- we changed our changing books shelf to Eric Carle. His art work will inspire us when we change our room over from winter to spring.
- we learned about closed syllables and open syllables.
- we are super close to earning our bank accounts!
- we learned about the quarter.
- In Reader's Workshop we learned about a new tool as we try to solve hard words: Think about what is happening in the book. If your child gets stuck when reading, cover the word and ask "What is happening so far in this book? What would make sense here?"
- we learned 3 more vowel teams (ee, ea, ey). Ask your child what sound these three vowel teams make.
- we are doing gymnastics in PE. We learned how to travel like different animals.
