This week in school....
- Korrine shared about her weekend with Piggie and Jake shared about his weekend with Gerald. Colin is taking home Pigeon this weekend....have fun!
- we celebrated Korrine’s birthday.
- We celebrated Jake and Chole’s 1/2 birthday!
- Mr. Capobianco was our guest reader. Thank you!
- we celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday! We made Dr. Seuss hats and read some Dr. Seuss books.
- we learned 2 new vowel teams. ai bait /a/ and ay play /a/
- we learned about closed syllables. A syllable is closed when it only has 1 vowel and a consonant after the vowel. When the syllable is closed, it makes the short vowel sound. example. she is not a closed syllable. shed is a closed syllable.
- We changed our calendar to March.
- We started charting the weather and temperature for March. We could NOT get over the fact that there were two days in February that were in the 70’s!
- we started a new unit of study for Reading Workshop. We are the boss of our reading. We know that if we come across any words that give us trouble, we

- we had a math assessment. We are done with unit 5 (working with multiples of 10). On Monday, we will start unit 6.
- we wrote about our favorite Olympic winter sport. Ask your child what their favorite is and why.
- Mrs. Schwarm was out and we had a guest teacher.
- during writing, we finished up writing about our collections and took them home. We read through our stories and made sure they were easy for others to read.
- walk to school day was cancelled due to the poor weather. It will be rescheduled for April 6.
- We made Chinese Lanterns to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
