This week in school...
We are a Bucket Filling class! We read How Full is your Bucket? and brainstormed different ways we could become bucket fillers. Click HERE to see the book on youtube. Encourage your child to be a bucket filler at home as well. Here are some of their ideas on how we can be a bucket filling class:
- Be quiet when your teacher or anyone is talking
- Be a helper to your friends
- Ask friends to play
- Help a friend clean up something if they drop it
- Be kind to your family
- Help a friend at recess
- Give someone a present
- Help new students find where to go
- Help your sister pick up her toys
- If someone is hurt, get a teacher
- Helping someone get onto a monster truck
- Help your mom do the laundry
- Help your family wash the dishes
- Help a friend sound out a word
- Be kind to everyone all around the world
- Give people a hug if they are sad
- Help a friend reach something
- Help someone learn the monkey bars

This week in school...
- we wrote about our weekends
- we started star name! We did star name for Zoe, Owen, Annie, Ari, Arianna, and Erinora
- we illustrated our first two poems and put them into our poetry binder.
- we learned about whole body listening. Ask your child what that looks like.
- we learned how to use iPads safely in the classroom
- we practiced writing our numbers
- we made a human number line
- we learned a fun math game called race to 50
- we filled in blank spaces on a number line
- we explored attribute links and made patterns
- we celebrated Viola's birthday
- we continued to learn about good habits that strong readers have. Ask your child about the good habits they are picking up!
- we built up our stamina for independent reading to 11 minutes!!!
- we wrote about being bucket fillers (more info on bucket fillers below)
- we wrote love notes to our grown ups
- we wrote about our hopes and dreams for first grade. Ask your child what their hope and dream is.
- we came up with our classroom rules. Ask your child what the 5 rules are.
- we had the same classroom job for the entire week.
- we read the colors of us and painted today! Thank you for all of the newspaper donations.
